The Egypt international returned to the Liverpool FC team after Salah missed out on a place in Jurgen Klopp’s team for their goalless draw with Everton in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.
Salah scored Liverpool FC’s opening goal in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final last week before the African forward was forced off in the second half of their 3-0 win.
The 25-year-old managed to pass a fitness test and line up for Jurgen Klopp’s side at the Etihad Stadium with a place in the Champions League semi-finals up for grabs.
Salah scored a second-half equaliser to cancel out Gabriel Jesus’ early opener before Brazil international Roberto Firmino netted a winner to secure a 5-1 aggregate victory over the Premier League leaders.
Former Chelsea FC star Lampard likened Salah’s playing style to FC Barcelona legend Messi.
“He didn’t get that many chances to show this at Chelsea,” Lampard told BT Sport.
“He’s released himself from the wing. At Chelsea he was seen as a winger and didn’t have much impact, although there were a lot of players ahead of him at the time.
“The brilliance is the intelligence. Lionel Messi is sometimes great at standing in areas and Salah is starting to do that, and the ball comes to him.”
Liverpool FC are in third place in the Premier League table and four points behind Manchester United in the table.
The Reds are on course to finish in the Premier League’s top four in successive seasons.
