Giroud came off the bench to inspire Chelsea FC to a 3-2 victory over Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday after Morata had started up front for the Blues.
Morata had failed to find the net for the Blues as Southampton went 2-0 up at St Mary’s.
Giroud made an instant impact when he came on, scoring either side of Eden Hazard’s goal to claim all three points for Conte’s men and cap an impressive turnaround.
Morata has been in stuttering form in recent months and the two strikers are set for a battle for the starting spot in the team at Stamford Bridge between now and the end of the season.
And Conte has appeared to warn Morata that his starting spot is under threat after Giroud’s impressive performance on Saturday.
Speaking at his post-match news conference at St Mary’s, Conte said: “I am very happy for Olivier.
“He scored but we changed something in the second half and the difference was the approach, the spirit and the will to fight and try not to lose another game.
“We have two strikers and Olivier arrived at Chelsea in January after a bad muscular problem. Now he has good fitness and I try to make the best decisions for the game.
“Alvaro Morata scored against Leicester and Tottenham. I have two good strikers and I try to make the best decision at the start or during the game. We must be happy we scored three times.”
Chelsea FC will return to FA Cup action next weekend when they take on Southampton in the semi-finals.
The Blues are currently in fifth place in the Premier League table and they look likely to miss out on Champions League qualification for next season.
