Chelsea FC chiefs are keen for Alvaro Morata to remain at the club beyond the summer transfer window despite the speculation about his future, according to reports in Italy.

Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, as quoted by website football.london, is reporting that Roman Abramovich and Marina Granovskaia are both keen for the Spanish striker to remain at the club.

Morata’s future has been a source of uncertainty in recent weeks after his largely disappointing form for the Blues since his transfer to Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid last summer.

The 25-year-old has scored 11 goals and made six assists in 26 Premier League games so far this season but he has only netted twice in all competitions since December.

There had been reports suggesting that Morata could be set for a return to Italian side Juventus in the summer transfer window after his disappointing start to life at Chelsea FC.

However, the story says that Chelsea owner Abramovich and director Granovskaia still view Morata’s long-term future as being at Stamford Bridge.

Morata will be hoping to feature for Chelsea FC when the Blues return to Premier League action on Saturday lunchtime with a trip to Southampton.

The Blues are currently in fifth place in the table and look as if they will miss out on a top-four finish this term.
