The west London side have been struggling to produce consistent form under Antonio Conte this season and they are currently outside of the top four spots in the Premier League table.
The Blues suffered a disappointing 3-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur last weekend at Stamford Bridge to deal a serious blow to their hopes of finishing in the top four this season.
Conte’s men are in fifth place in the table and looking as though they will have to settle for a spot outside the top four and in the Europa League next season.
There has been relentless speculation about Conte’s future at Stamford Bridge in recent weeks following the Blues’ disappointing form in all competitions.
Juventus manager Max Allegri has been touted as one of the potential candidates to take over from Conte at the end of the season.
However, former Arsenal star Merson does not necessarily feel that changing manager will be the solution for the west London side.
Speaking to the Daily Star, Merson said: “Chelsea are in danger of becoming another Arsenal and I don’t see how Max Allegri is going to stop that from happening….
“Allegri might help. He’s a good manager. But he comes from a league which is nothing like ours and there are no guarantees he will be a big success.”
Chelsea FC are currently preparing for their home clash against West Ham United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
