The west London side suffered another disappointing blow to their hopes of securing a place in the top four this term when they were held to a frustrating goalless draw by West Ham United in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
That result left the Blues in fifth place in the Premier League table and 10 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham with only six games left to play.
It looks as if the west London side are set to miss out on a top four finish, meaning that the Blues will have to settle for Europa League football next season.
Speaking to BBC Sport after Sunday’s disappointing result, Azpilicueta said: “We are further away than ever.”
He continued: “To get a draw at home in another London derby is really frustrating for all of us and all of the fans. We are not happy.
“What matters is the score at the end, I am frustrated today, we should be able to win this game.
“We controlled the game, we created enough chances to win but we struggled at the end and maybe they could have scored the winner. It’s becoming harder and harder every game it goes on.”
Chelsea FC could still manage to end the season with a trophy when they take on Southampton in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley later this month.
The Blues reached the FA Cup final last season under Antonio Conte but they were beaten by Arsenal in the final at Wembley.
Meanwhile, the west London side will now return to Premier League action with a trip to Southampton on Saturday lunchtime.
