Antonio Conte has deflected questions about his future at Chelsea FC by insisting that he is simply focused on helping the Blues enjoy a strong end to the season.

The west London side have been struggling to produce consistent form in recent weeks and they currently find themselves in fifth place in the Premier League table.

Chelsea FC look as though they may well have to settle for a place in the Europa League for next season as they look increasingly unlikely to be able to catch fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur before the end of the current campaign.

Conte’s position at Stamford Bridge has inevitably been a constant source of speculation because of the Blues’ poor form in recent months.

Many are expecting the Blues to appoint a new manager in the summer but Conte refused to be drawn on his personal situation at Stamford Bridge ahead of Chelsea FC’s trip to Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.

Speaking at his pre-match news conference before the game, Conte said: “My job is to work with these players and finish the season as strongly as possible.

“There is always speculation around our position, not only for me but for a lot of coaches.

“It’s our job. For me, the most important thing is to be focused on Chelsea and finish in the best possible way. We want to improve our position. It’s difficult and we know that, but at the same time we have to give everything to get points and then to see what happens at the end of the season.

“It will be very difficult to reduce this gap, but we must try to do this until the end of the season.”

Chelsea FC are still aiming to finish the season with a trophy, and they will take on Southampton in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley later this month as they look to go one step further than they did last term.
