Oliver Giroud has revealed that he told Eden Hazard to “keep believing” before he helped Chelsea FC to mount a dramatic 3-2 comeback at Southampton on Saturday.

Chelsea FC found themselves 2-0 down after 60 minutes at St Mary’s in the Premier League clash as they looked to be heading towards another disappointing result.

However, Giroud came off the bench and pulled a goal back for the Blues in the 70th minute.

Hazard then netted another goal for the Blues in the 75th minute, before Giroud scored the eventual winer against the Saints to wrap up the three points for Conte’s men.

The result left Chelsea FC seven points behind Tottenham ahead of Spurs’ clash with Manchester City on Saturday evening.

And Giroud has revealed what he said to Hazard when he came on against the Saints at St Mary’s.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Giroud said: “I said when I came on to Eden Hazard we need to fight to the end keep believing.

“I didn’t tell him we would score, but our first goal put us in that position.”

He added: “It was tough for us, the second for them was difficult. The most important thing is never give up, believe in our quality, play our game and I am proud of what we have done today with our amazing support.”

Chelsea FC will take on Southampton once again next weekend in the FA Cup semi-finals as they look to reach the final and end the campaign with a trophy.

The west London side reached the FA Cup final last season but they were beaten by Arsenal in the final at Wembley last May.
