Steven Gerrard has insisted that Chelsea FC fully deserve their place in the FA Cup final after their 2-0 victory over Southampton on Sunday.

Goals from Olivier Giroud and substitute Alvaro Morata in the second half at Wembley secured the west London side’s place in the final for the second season running under Antonio Conte.

Chelsea FC will now take on Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley next month as they look to try and end the season on a positive note by winning a trophy.

Both Manchester United and Chelsea FC know that the FA Cup is their final hope of ending the campaign with a trophy.

And Liverpool FC legend Gerrard feels that the Blues fully deserved their place in the final after having beaten Southampton comprehensively at Wembley on Sunday.

Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Gerrard said: “It was thoroughly deserved.

“Chelsea dominated the game. Maybe there was a goal for Southampton in there but I think as a whole, Chelsea thoroughly dominated the game.”

Chelsea FC will now switch their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their trip to Swansea City on Saturday night.

The west London side are still harbouring hopes of finishing in the top four this season, despite currently trailing fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur by five points with four games left to play.
