Chelsea FC join Tottenham in race to sign top 18-year-old – report
Chelsea FC have joined Tottenham in the race to sign Hamburg striker Jann-Fiete Arp, say reports
Chelsea FC have joined Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Hamburg striker Jann-Fiete Arp, according to reports in Germany.
German newspaper Bild, as quoted by talkSPORT, is reporting that the two London clubs are both keen on signing the 18-year-old, who has been earning rave reviews for his recent performances.
The teenager has scored two goals in 16 Bundesliga games this season, although he has only started eight games in the top flight for Hamburg so far this term.
The same report claims that Harry Kane is one of Arp’s idols, but that Chelsea FC have now joined the race for his signature this summer.
The teenager’s contract is set to expire at the end of next season and Hamburg could be looking to cash-in on him this summer, according to the same story.
According to the same article, Bayern Munich have also expressed a strong interest in signing Arp and failed with an approach earlier this year.
Chelsea FC are likely to be on the lookout for a number of new signings after a disappointing second campaign under Antonio Conte.
The Blues were beaten 3-1 by Tottenham last weekend to leave their hopes of finishing in the top four and securing Champions League qualification looking slim.
