Davide Zappacosta reveals that Alvaro Morata has played a key role in helping him adapt to life at Chelsea FC
Davide Zappacosta has revealed that Alvaro Morata has played a key role in helping him to settle into life at Chelsea FC.
Both players arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window last year as Antonio Conte moved quickly to bolster his squad at the west London club.
Zappacosta arrived from Torino late in the summer window, while Morata had completed his move to Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid back in July of last year.
The pair have become close friends away from the pitch and the Italian has lifted the lid on how Morata has helped him to feel welcome at Chelsea FC, despite the Spaniard being so new to the club himself.
Speaking to Chelsea FC’s website, Zappacosta said: “We didn’t really know each other before, only from playing against each other with Torino and Juventus a few times.
“Alvaro was the first person to help me when I arrived as he speaks Italian and that helped create a connection between us. He gave me a hand and made me feel welcome at the club so we became close friends because of that.”
Both Zappacosta and Morata will be hoping to feature for Chelsea FC when the Blues return to action on Sunday with their crunch FA Cup semi-final clash against Southampton at Wembley.
The Blues are currently in fifth place in the Premier League table and five points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the race for Champions League qualification.
Chelsea FC won the Premier League last season but missed out on a domestic double when they were beaten by Arsenal in the FA Cup final.
