Dennis Wise predicts where Chelsea FC, Tottenham will finish this season
The Chelsea FC legend rules out the Blues overhauling Spurs in the top-four race this season
Dennis Wise believes Chelsea FC have left it too late to overhaul Tottenham Hotspur in the top-four race.
The Blues have endured a difficult second season under Antonio Conte following their Premier League title success last term.
Chelsea FC finished seven points ahead of Tottenham in the title race but Spurs are currently sitting five points ahead of the deposed champions.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side lost 3-1 to Manchester City last weekend before a 1-1 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion mid-week.
Tottenham’s two-game winless run has left the door slightly ajar for Chelsea FC to overhaul their bitter London rivals.
However, former Chelsea FC midfielder Wise believes the Blues will struggle to overhaul Tottenham in the top four.
“It’s too late for Chelsea to get in Champions League,” Wise told Sky Sports.
“Spurs won’t let it slip now. They’ve got some good games coming up. Spurs will be OK.”
The Blues signed Everton midfielder Ross Barkley, AS Roma defender Emerson Palmieri and Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud in the January transfer window.
The west London side have won the Premier League title in two of the past three seasons under Jose Mourinho and then Conte.
Both Chelsea FC and Tottenham are in FA Cup action this weekend.
Spurs will kick off the FA Cup semi-finals with a clash against Manchester United at Wembley, while the Blues will take on Southampton on Sunday evening.
