The Blues will host their bitter north London rivals this weekend in a Premier League clash that could go a long way towards deciding fourth place this term.
Defending Premier League champions Chelsea FC are in fifth place in the table and five points behind Tottenham, who occupy the final Champions League spot.
The west London side have lost four of their last six Premier League games to fall a long way behind the top four.
However, Chelsea FC haven’t lost to Tottenham at Stamford Bridge since 1990, providing the current Spurs crop with a chance to create their own bit of history.
The Blues were 2-1 winners against Tottenham at Wembley in their second Premier League game of the current campaign back in August.
Former Chelsea FC winger Nevin highlighted the enormity of the Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
“It is the biggest game of the season for Chelsea,” Nevin told Newstalk. “It is that important.
“If Chelsea lose, I can’t see them catching Tottenham. However, if Chelsea win, the gap is down to two points and they have a really good run in. A load of winnable games.”
Chelsea FC lost 4-1 to Spanish side FC Barcelona in the Champions League round of 16 last month.
The Blues won the Premier League title with two games to spare last season after finishing seven points ahead of Spurs.
