Pundit predicts Chelsea FC will struggle to keep Eden Hazard
Garth Crooks believes Chelsea FC will find it tough to keep Eden Hazard without Champion League football
Garth Crooks believes Chelsea FC will struggle to keep Eden Hazard without the lure of Champions League football.
The Blues came from 2-0 down to rescue a 3-2 victory over Southampton in the Premier League at St Mary’s on Sunday.
The west London side managed to leave the south coast with three points following Olivier Giroud’s double and Hazard’s goal.
Chelsea FC are in fifth place in the Premier League table and seven points behind fourth-placed Tottenham with five games to play.
The defending Premier League champions are facing speculation surrounding Hazard’s future at Stamford Bridge.
The Belgium international has been linked with a potential move to La Liga and Champions League holders Real Madrid.
Former Spurs forward Crooks believes Hazard could leave the Premier League title holders at the end of the season.
“Another big question for Conte – should he stay at Stamford Bridge – is whether he can keep Hazard without the lure of Champions League football. I’m beginning to doubt it,” Crooks told BBC Sport.
Hazard has scored 12 goals and has made three assist in 29 games in the Premier League this season.
The Blues haven’t won the Champions League since 2012 and lost 4-1 to FC Barcelona in the round of 16.
