Roman Abramovich wants Chelsea FC to sign Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri even if the Blues sack Antonio Conte this summer, according to a report in England.

The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Blues owner wants the west London side to sign the 26-year-old in the 2018 summer transfer window.

The same article states that Seri is a long-term £30m target for the 2017 Premier League champions but the Blues face competition from the Premier League and La Liga.

Indeed, Arsenal and Liverpool FC have both been linked with a swoop for the Ivory Coast international, while Seri was thought to be close to a switch to FC Barcelona last summer.

According to the same story, Chelsea FC owner Abramovich wants to rebuild the Blues squad even if manager Antonio Conte leaves at the end of the season.

Chelsea FC are in fifth place in the Premier League table and 27 points adrift of champions Manchester City despite winning the title with two games to spare last term.

The Blues can still finish the season with some silverware if the west London side manage to beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Chelsea FC are five points adrift of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League table.
