The Gunners eased to a 4-1 victory over the Russian side in the Europa League at The Emirates last week after Alexandre Lacazette and Aaron Ramsey scored twice in north London.
Arsenal edged to a 3-2 win against Southampton at the Emirates Stadium last weekend after England international Danny Welbeck scored a dramatic winner.
Arsene Wenger’s side are in sixth place in the Premier League table and 13 points adrift of Liverpool FC and Tottenham Hotspur in the final two top-four spots.
Arsenal’s best chance of securing a place in the Champions League next season is by winning the Europa League this season.
Former Gunners star Nicholas believes Ramsey will get on the score sheet in the second leg to help Arsenal secure a place in the last-our draw.
“CSKA Moscow had a Monday game so they are getting squeezed a bit, whereas Arsene Wenger has kept plenty of his best players fresh,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
“I was very surprised with the amount of changes he made at the weekend, but it obviously shows that Wenger is taking this seriously – not that he has much of an option with the top-four race done and dusted.
“I never trust this defence and have no idea who the best defensive partnership are, but Arsenal should have enough to get the job done.
“Then hopefully they can avoid Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals. Either way they need to show character until the end of the season and build momentum because confidence isn’t a tap you can just turn on and off.”
Arsenal finished behind Liverpool FC in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a place in the Champions League for the first time under Arsene Wenger.
The Gunners signed Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a club record £56m deal in transfer deadline day back in January.
