Ian Wright believes the Manchester United squad still have another 40 per cent to give.

The Red Devils are in second place in the Premier League table and 16 points behind runaway leaders Manchester City.

Manchester United finished in sixth spot last term so securing runners-up spot would be seen as progression on paper.

However, the 20-time English champions still haven’t produced the attacking football that some of their supporters crave.

Jose Mourinho’s men suffered the disappointment of a 2-1 loss to Spanish side Sevilla in the Champions League round of 16.

The Red Devils played out a goalless stalemate in Sevilla before a shock defeat at home despite what was deemed a relatively kind draw.

Manchester United still have the consolation of a FA Cup spot to play for but Tottenham Hotspur stand in their way.

Former Arsenal striker Wright believes the Manchester United players still aren’t at their best.

“Man United are in second place but I think the Man United players have another 40 per cent in them,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live.

Manchester United signed Alexis Sanchez in a swap deal from Arsenal in the January transfer window as Henrikh Mkhitaryan moved in the other direction.

The Red Devils haven’t won the top-flight crown since 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson was still in charge of Manchester United.
