The Premier League leaders were 3-1 winners against Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon to move to within a point of title glory.
Golas from Gabriel Jesus, Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling helped to secure three points against the Toffees ahead of their Champions League quarter-final at Anfield.
The Eastlands outfit will make the short trip to Merseyside for the second time in a week as Pep Guardiola’s side look to secure a positive first-leg result.
Liverpool FC were 4-3 winners against Manchester City in their Premier League meeting at Anfield earlier this season to end the Citizens’ unbeaten run in the Premier League this term.
However, Guardiola’s side were 5-0 winners against the Reds in their top-flight clash at the Etihad Stadium back in September.
De Bruyne believes Manchester City have to adopt a similar approach to their Liverpool FC tie following Saturday evening’s 3-1 win at Everton.
“If they score you know it is going to get a bit more heated than if we score,” De Bruyne is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
“It’s just the way football goes. But you saw it against Everton – they have a good crowd – but if you are three goals ahead then it is really difficult for them to get into it.
“Let’s hope we can do the same at Anfield.”
Liverpool FC are looking to win the Champions League for the fifth time, while Manchester City are hoping to get their hands on the European Cup for the first time.
