Jamie Redknapp claims Man United’s two biggest players made statement at Wembley
The Liverpool FC legend believes Man United's two biggest stars Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez produced top performances in FA Cup semi-final
Jamie Redknapp believes Manchester United’s 2-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur could prove a turning point in the careers of Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez.
Spurs broke the deadlock thanks to Christian Eriksen’s opener after the Denmark international scored in Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Manchester United in the Premier League back in February.
However, Manchester United responded after Chile star Sanchez scored his third goal following his move to the Red Devils in a swap deal from Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.
The Red Devils eased into a second-half lead courtesy of Ander Herrera’s goal before Jose Mourinho’s men saw out a close-fought 2-1 win against Tottenham in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.
Pogba and Sanchez both started the last-four clash despite speculation before the FA Cup tie suggesting that Mourinho would drop his two big-name players.
However, the Manchester United pair impressed with commanding performances to justify their inclusion in the manager’s starting XI.
Former Liverpool FC star Redknapp raved about Pogba and Sanchez following their performance in the FA Cup semi-final.
“his was a statement from Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba. After struggling to hit the heights this season, Manchester United’s most talented players came to the party when it mattered at Wembley,” Redknapp told the Daily Mail.
“The way the misfiring stars combined for United’s equaliser could well be a turning point in their Old Trafford careers.”
Manchester United signed Sanchez in a swap deal from Arsenal in the January transfer window as Armenia international Henrikh Mkhitaryan moved to the Gunners.
