The 25-year-old has been in sensational form for the Reds since having signed from AS Roma in the summer transfer window last year.
And he continued his fine displays on Wednesday night when he netted the opener for the Reds in the 12th minute of the quarter-final clash first leg at Anfield.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain then made it 2-0 to the home side in the 20th minute with a sensational long-range effort.
And Sadio Mane headed in Salah’s cross in the 31st minute to wrap up a brilliant start for the Reds on Merseyside.
Salah was injured in the second half and had to come off along with Roberto Firmino.
But former Manchester United defender Ferdinand was clearly impressed by what he saw from the Egypt international following his first-half display at Anfield.
Speaking during BT Sport‘s coverage of the game about Salah’s goal, Ferdinand said: “The pace at which this Liverpool team attack… Mo Salah was straight on the front-foot.
“When the ball comes into him there’s no doubt he was going to score.
“Salah is devastating in front of goal and got Liverpool off to the start they were dreaming of.”
Salah has been in brilliant form for Liverpool FC so far this season and he has scored 29 goals in 31 Premier League games.
Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action on Saturday when they travel to Everton in the top flight.
