Pat Nevin sends warning to Liverpool FC about AS Roma in Champions League semi-final
The Chelsea FC legend tells Liverpool FC not to underestimate AS Roma in the Champions League semi-finals
Pat Nevin has warned Liverpool FC not to underestimate AS Roma in the Champions League semi-finals.
The Reds have reached the last four of Europe’s premier club competition for the first time since 2008.
Liverpool FC were 3-0 winners against Manchester City in the first leg of their quarter-final clash thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Roberto Firmino.
The Reds booked their place in the last four thanks to goals from Salah and Firmino in the second half at The Etihad after Gabriel Jesus broke the deadlock.
The 18-time English champions were rewarded for their heroics against the Premier League champions with a semi-final draw against AS Roma.
The Italian giants are in their first Champions League semi-final following a 4-3 aggregate victory over FC Barcelona in the Italian capital.
Former Chelsea FC star Nevin believes AS Roma will prove difficult opponents for Liverpool FC in the Champions League semi-final.
“It is a tough gig against Roma. I watched Roma in the home and away legs against Chelsea,” Nevin told Irish radio station Newstalk.
“Don’t underestimate them. They are a hard team to beat. They’ve got the underdog thing. It is a really interesting fixture.”
The Reds haven’t won the Champions League title since 2005 when Liverpool FC came from 3-0 down to beat AC Milan on penalties in Istanbul.
Two years later, Liverpool FC lost 2-1 to AC Milan in the Champions League final in Athens in 2007.
