Paul Merson is tipping Liverpool FC to ease to a comfortable win against Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday.

The Reds will welcome the south coast club to Merseyside four days after their Champions League quarter-final triumph.

Liverpool FC were 2-1 winners against Premier League leaders Manchester City in the second leg of their quarter-final at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.

Goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino overturned Gabriel Jesus’ opener to secure a 5-1 aggregate victory following a 3-0 win at Anfield earlier this month.

Liverpool FC will take on Serie A giants AS Roma in the Champions League semi-finals at the end of April at Anfield before their return trip to the Italian capital.

The Reds have to take care of Bournemouth at Anfield this weekend before allowing themselves to think about their European tie.

Former Arsenal star Merson is backing Liverpool FC to ease to a 3-1 victory over Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday evening.

“Liverpool are on a high and should win this,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“They have enough in their squad even if there are some tired legs.

“I think they will want to put the top four to bed before they start resting players.

“You don’t want to be in a situation where you don’t win the Champions League and you aren’t in the top four, then the season is completely gone.

“If they win this they will still likely to be 10 ahead of Chelsea with four games left and you expect that to be enough, even though Chelsea have a game in hand. It should be next week they start resting players.”

Liverpool FC are on course to finish in the Premier League’s top four in successive seasons after Jurgen Klopp steered the Reds back into the Champions League last term.

The Reds haven’t won the Champions League title since 2005 when Liverpool FC beat AC Milan on penalties.
