Frank Lampard ‘so impressed’ by Liverpool FC star
Frank Lampard heaps praise on Virgil van Dijk for the way he has started his Liverpool FC career
Frank Lampard has heaped praise on Virgil van Dijk for the strong form he has shown since his move to Liverpool FC in the January transfer window.
Van Dijk arrived on Merseyside at the turn of the year from Southampton after having been heavily linked with a move to Anfield during the summer transfer window last year.
The Netherlands defender has been a regular fixture in the first team at Anfield and has been in impressive form at the back for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Van Dijk helped Liverpool FC seal a 5-2 win over AS Roma in the Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday night, despite the disappointment of conceding two late goals against the Italian side.
The 26-year-old has made 11 Premier League starts and has also featured four times in the Champions League for Klopp’s side this season.
And former Chelsea FC star Lampard has admitted that he has been thoroughly impressed by the way Van Dijk has been adapting to life at Liverpool FC.
Speaking to BT Sport on Tuesday night, Lampard said: “He’s so impressive.
“I don’t know if the [defensive] jigsaw is finished yet but he was a massive piece that put them towards being where they are now.
“He gives them solidity, personality and character at the back.”
Liverpool FC will now switch their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their home clash against Stoke City at Anfield on Saturday.
