Dennis Wise has admitted that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is exceeding his expectations at Liverpool FC.

The Reds signed the England international in a £35m deal from Arsenal in the final day of the 2017 summer transfer window.

Oxlade-Chamberlain opted to move to Liverpool FC despite the offer of a new long-term deal to remain at the Emirates Stadium.

The 24-year-old had the chance to complete a switch to 2017 Premier League champions Chelsea FC but opted to move to Liverpool FC.

The England star scored in Liverpool FC’s 3-0 win over Premier League leaders Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

His season was cut short following serious knee problem during Liverpool FC’s 5-2 win against AS Roma in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final last week.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has netted five goals and made seven assists in 38 games in the Champions League and the Premier League this term.

Former Chelsea FC star Wise admitted that Oxlade-Chamberlain has surpassed his expectations at Liverpool FC this term.

“He was a wide player and he has gone in the middle,” Wise told Sky Sports. “He has given Liverpool something different.

“He breaks well He breaks things up. He can get o the ball. He is working very hard. He was always saying he wanted to play in the middle.

“He has done exceptionally well. He is exceeding my expectations.”

The Reds are in third place in the Premier League table and three points behind Manchester United, who occupy second spot.

Liverpool FC haven’t won the Premier League title but finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
