The England Under-21 international produced a man of the match performance in Liverpool FC’s impressive 3-0 win against Premier League leaders Manchester City in the first leg of their quarter-final.
Alexander-Arnold was targeted in the first leg after Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola pitted Germany international Leroy Sane against the 19-year-old defender at Anfield with little success.
The 19-year-old picked up an early yellow card in the second leg but Alexander-Arnold managed to maintain his composure and help Jurgen Klopp’s side secured a 2-1 win at The Etihad.
The English teenager has scored two goals and has made one assist in nine appearances in the Champions League this season to earn a regular spot in the Liverpool FC team under Klopp.
Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand has been impressed with Alexander-Arnold’s performances over both legs of the Champions League quarter-final.
“To go into this game under that pressure and produce a performance like that… he was brave on the front-foot defending against a super talent in Sane,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.
“He looked so comfortable. Not only defensively was he fantastic but when he had the ball, his distribution into tight areas was superb for a young boy.
Alexander-Arnold has scored one goal in 15 appearances in the Premier League this season as he continues to compete with Nathaniel Clyne and Joe Gomez for a starting spot in Klopp’s side.
Liverpool FC are in third place in the Premier League table.
