The Reds signed Robertson in an £8m deal from Championship side Hull City in the 2017 summer transfer window.
Robertson was brought in to provide Alberto Moreno with competition for the left-back spot in Jurgen Klopp’s team.
The Liverpool FC boss used Robertson sparingly in the opening months of the season before Moreno’s injury handed the summer signing a chance.
The Scotland international has excelled in the Liverpool FC team to make four assists in 19 games in the Premier League.
Robertson has started Liverpool FC’s last three Champions League games, including their 5-1 aggregate win against Manchester City.
Former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson has been impressed with Robertson’s contribution over the course of the season.
“Robertson has been absolutely outstanding,” Lawrenson told Irish radio station Newstalk.
“I have spoken to a couple of people, including Moyes, I said to him, ‘what is he like?’
“He said he is really good going forward but not sure defensively. He has done really brilliantly.
“He has half a brain too which is half a brain more than Moreno.”
Liverpool FC are in third place in the Premier League table and four points adrift of second-placed Manchester United.
The Reds finished in fourth place in the Premier League table in Klopp’s first full season in charge at the Merseyside club last term.
Liverpool FC are looking to finish in the Champions League qualification spots in successive seasons.
