Frank Lampard raves about ‘incredible’ Liverpool FC star (not Mo Salah)
The Chelsea FC legend heaps praise on Liverpool FC star Roberto Firmino for his performance in the Champions League quarter-final
Frank Lampard has singled out Roberto Firmino for special praise after the Liverpool FC forward scored in a 2-1 win at Manchester City in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
The Brazil international scored in the first leg of their last-eight clash at Anfield to seal a 3-0 win after early goals from Mohamed Salah and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the European Cup clash.
Firmino struggled in the first half as Premier League leaders Manchester City dominated the opening 45 minutes before the South American came into his own in the second half at the Etihad Stadium.
The South American scored Liverpool FC’s winner on Eastlands to take his tally to eight goals and four assists in 10 Champions League appearances after Salah cancelled out Gabriel Jesus’ early opener.
Former Chelsea FC star Lampard spoke in glowing terms about Firmino following his influential performance at The Etihad on Tuesday night.
“Firmino was incredible in that second half,” Lampard told BT Sport.
“Everything that came to him stuck. He’s so aware of what’s around him. He’s strong, he holds the ball up, and he got a well-deserved goal.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season in Klopp’s first full campaign in charge at the Merseyside outfit.
The Reds are in third spot in the English top flight but four points behind Manchester United, who are favourites to finish as runners up to the Citizens.
