The Germany Under-21 international managed to keep a clean sheet in Liverpool FC’s 3-0 win against Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash on Wednesday night.
The 24-year-old was restored as Liverpool FC’s first-choice goalkeeper at the start of 2018 following Simon Mignolet’s unconvincing performances in the Reds goal.
Karius has grown in confidence over the past two or three months following an encouraging return of six clean sheets in his last nine games in all competitions.
Klopp signed Netherlands international Virgil van Dijk in the January transfer window and the club record signing appears to have brought out the best in Karius and the rest of the back four.
Former Liverpool FC captain Gerrard believes Klopp will be encouraged by Karius’ improving performances in the Reds team.
“Defensively to a man they were stunning,” Gerrard told BT Sport.
“The keeper is getting better and better. I think Jurgen Klopp will be delighted.
“I thought his tactics were spot on tonight [Wednesday against Manchester City].”
Liverpool FC signed Karius in a £4.7m deal from Bundesliga outfit Mainz 05 in the 2016 summer transfer window.
The Reds will make the return trip to Premier League leaders Manchester City in the return leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday.
Liverpool FC are in third place in the Premier League table and two points adrift of Manchester United.
