Ian Wright highlights how Liverpool FC star Mo Salah has surpassed Arsenal legend
The Arsenal legend raves about Liverpool FC star Mo Salah
Ian Wright believes Liverpool FC star Mo Salah deserves credit for his swift adjustment to life at Anfield.
The Reds signed the Egypt international in a £39m deal from Serie A giants AS Roma in the 2017 summer transfer window.
Salah opened his account in Liverpool FC’s 3-3 draw with Watford in their opening game of the Premier League campaign.
The Egypt international has netted 31 goals in 33 games in the Premier League following his strike in a 2-2 draw with West Brom.
Salah has scored nine times in 12 outings in the Champions League to help Jurgen Klopp’s side reach the semi-finals.
The 25-year-old won the PFA player of the year award last weekend after he beat Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne.
Salah has been talked up as one of the Premier League’s greatest imports alongside the likes of Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp.
Former Arsenal striker Wright has been impressed with how quickly Salah has adjusted to life at Liverpool FC.
“Thierry and Dennis are rightly viewed as two of the finest foreigners not just to pull on a Gunners shirt, but to light up the Premier League in general,” Wright told The Sun.
“Yet it’s easy to forget now, given the heights they went on to scale so regularly, how both took time to adjust when they first arrived in England.
“The pair of them came here on the back of troubled times at Juventus and Inter Milan respectively — but didn’t dominate the Prem straight away.
“Egyptian ace Salah, on the other hand, didn’t just hit the ground running, he did so at such a pace that he would have left even Usain Bolt for dead.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table for the first time in two seasons.
The Reds were 5-1 aggregate winners against Premier League champions Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-final.
Liverpool FC haven’t won the Premier League title.
