Rio Ferdinand has lavished praise on Mohamed Salah for the Liverpool FC star’s prolific form.

The Egypt international continued his incredible goal-scoring run with the opener in Liverpool FC’s 3-0 win against Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash on Wednesday night.

Salah finished from close range in the 12th minute after Brazil international Roberto Firmino showed great tenacity to dispossess Kyle Walker before the forward teed up the Egyptian forward to break the deadlock.

The 25-year-old has scored 38 times in 41 games in all competitions in the current campaign following his £39m move to Liverpool FC from Serie A giants AS Roma in the 2017 summer transfer window.

The Reds forward is sitting at the top of the Premier League’s goal-scoring charts following a return of 29 goals in 31 top-flight outings.

Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand has been blown away by Salah’s clinical performances in his debut season.

“When this guy gets an opportunity, as we’ve seen, he puts the ball in the back of the net,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.

Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term to secure a return to the Champions League following a two-season absence.

The Merseyside outfit signed Netherlands international Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in the January transfer window.

The Reds are in third place in the Premier League table.
