Frank Lampard pinpoints why Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has improved at Liverpool FC
The Chelsea FC legend believes Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is flourishing under Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp
Frank Lampard has credited Jurgen Klopp with getting the best out of Liverpool FC summer signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The Merseyside outfit signed Oxlade-Chamberlain in a £40m deal from Arsenal on transfer deadline day in the 2017 summer transfer window.
The England star turned down a new contract with Arsenal and rejected a proposed move to Chelsea FC in favour of a switch to Liverpool FC.
Oxlade-Chamberlain made a slow start to his Anfield career and Klopp used the Southampton youth graduate sparingly in the opening months of the season.
However, the Liverpool FC number 21 has found his feet at the Merseyside outfit over the past few months.
Oxlade-Chamberlain netted a superb long-range goal in Liverpool FC’s 3-0 win against Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals.
The 24-year-old has netted five goals and has made seven assists in 38 games in all competitions.
Former Chelsea FC star Lampard believes Oxlade-Chamberlain is flourishing with Klopp throwing his support behind the England star.
“Sometimes a move, a new manager, new team-mates can make you lift your game,” Lampard told Evening Standard.
“He has more attacking options to find than he had at Arsenal. Also, he feels he has the full backing of his coach, which helps.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term to secure a return to the Champions League after a two-season absence.
The Reds haven’t won the Premier League title but have finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
