Ray Parlour has sent a message of encouragement to Liverpool FC star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain following his injury blow.

The England international was forced off in the first half of Liverpool FC’s 5-2 win against Serie A giants AS Roma in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp predicted that Oxlade-Chamberlain would be set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines in the immediate aftermath of their seven-goal thriller with the Italian giants.

The Reds confirmed that the 24-year-old had suffered a serious knee injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the 2017-18 season.

Oxlade-Chamberlain will also have to sit out England’s World Cup campaign in Russia, having established himself as first-choice under Three Lions head coach Gareth Southgate.

The versatile midfielder had found top form in recent months at Liverpool FC, including goals against Manchester City in both the Champions League and the Premier League at Anfield.

Former Arsenal midfielder Parlour sent a message of support to Oxlade-Chamberlain following his injury blow.

“He has to stay strong. He has to get back fit for next season,” Parlour told Sky Sports.

“It is very exciting times at Liverpool. They’re building a very strong squad.”

The Reds signed Oxlade-Chamberlain in a £40m deal from bitter rivals Arsenal in the 2017 summer transfer window.

The England star turned down the offer of a new contract from the Gunners to move to Anfield.
