Martin Keown doesn’t believe Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s success at Liverpool FC reflects badly on Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

The England international moved to Liverpool FC from Arsenal in a £40m deal on transfer deadline day last summer.

Oxlade-Chamberlain opted to move to Anfield despite Arsenal’s offer of a new contract and undergoing a medical at Chelsea FC.

The 24-year-old has established himself as an important player in the Liverpool FC team following three goals and five assists in 28 Premier League games.

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s impressive form for Liverpool FC has seen the versatile midfielder has earned a recall to the England squad ahead of this summer’s World Cup.

Former Arsenal star Keown rubbished the suggestion Oxlade-Chamberlain’s success at Liverpool FC reflects poorly on the Gunners boss.

“Oxlade-Chamberlain was playing really well as a wing back for Arsenal,” Keown told the Daily Mail.

“He is comfortable in possession, has good energy and can run past people.

“Where he is benefitting from playing on the right of a midfield three is that he is at less risk of losing the ball in deep positions.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain has netted one goal in four Champions League appearances this term to help Liverpool FC reach the last eight.

Liverpool FC were 5-0 winners against FC Porto in the round of 16 to set up a quarter-final meeting with Manchester City.
