Jordan Henderson predicts AS Roma v Liverpool FC second leg
Jordan Henderson looks ahead to the return leg of Liverpool FC's Champions League semi-final clash against AS Roma
Jordan Henderson has warned his Liverpool FC side that they must remain on their toes heading into the return leg of their Champions League semi-final clash against AS Roma.
Henderson helped Liverpool FC to claim a 5-2 win over AS Roma at Anfield in the first leg of the semi-final clash on Tuesday night as they took a big step towards reaching the final.
However, the mood at Anfield was dampened because Liverpool FC were 5-0 up before conceding two late goals to the Italian side to give them some hope of a comeback in the second leg next week.
Nevertheless, Liverpool FC will still be the heavy favourites to progress through to the final against either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.
And Liverpool FC captain Henderson has warned his team-mates that they still have plenty of work to do ahead of the return leg in the Italian capital next week.
Speaking to BT Sport after Tuesday night’s win, Henderson said: “I think we’ll obviously be disappointed with the two goals because it felt as though we were in full control and we basically gave them two goals, [which] you can’t really do at Champions League [level].
“But at the same time we’ve played well, we’ve won the game and we’ll go there with a three-goal advantage.
“It’ll be difficult because as you’ve seen in the last round, they came back against Barcelona, who are one of the best teams in the world, and they managed to knock them out so it’ll be a really tough challenge for us.
“But we’ve got to be confident after the performance. We’ve got to go there and put a solid display on and hopefully get us to the final.”
Liverpool FC will now switch their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their home clash against Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds will then focus on the return leg of the Champions League clash when they travel to Rome on Wednesday night next week.
