Mohamed Salah has insisted that he will remain “friends” with AS Roma for life despite Liverpool FC being set to take on the Italian side in the Champions League semi-finals.

The Reds have been pitted against Salah’s former employers and will take them on over two legs in the Champions League last four later this month.

Salah signed for Liverpool FC from AS Roma last summer and has been in brilliant form for the Reds since his move to the Merseyside outfit.

The 25-year-old has scored a staggering 39 goals in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s men and helped the Reds to book their place in the last four of the Champions League with a 5-1 aggregate victory over Manchester City in the quarter-finals.

AS Roma sent a direct message to Salah on Twitter after the draw was made for the semi-finals on Friday.

And Salah immediately responded to his former club.

AS Roma wrote on their official Twitter account: “We’ll be opponents for 180 minutes, but whatever happens we’ll remain friends for life. Looking forward to seeing you again, @22mosalah! 👋 #ASRoma #UCL #RomaLiverpool.”

And Salah replied soon after: “100%.”

Liverpool FC are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they seek Champions League qualification via a top-four finish for the second season running under Klopp.

The Reds have been earning huge amounts of praise for their strong displays in recent weeks under Klopp.
