The Reds have secured their place in the semi-final draw of Europe’s elite club competition after a brilliant 5-1 aggregate victory over Manchester City in the quarter-finals.
Goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino notched up an impressive 2-1 win over Manchester City at The Etihad on Tuesday night as Jurgen Klopp’s men secured their progress to the last four.
Liverpool FC will take on either Real Madrid, AS Roma or Bayern Munich for a place in the Champions League final.
And former Manchester City manager Pearce reckons that the Merseyside outfit now have to be considered as one of the favourites to lift the trophy at the end of the season.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Pearce said: “I think out of the quarter-finals they looked like the most impressive team heading into the semi-finals.
“I personally would put them in near enough as favourites from what I’ve seen over the last couple of nights in regards to the opposition they are up against.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool FC are set to turn their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their home clash against Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday night.
The Reds are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they seek a top four finish for the second season running under Klopp.
Liverpool FC are yet to win their first trophy since Klopp’s appointment at Anfield back in October 2015.
