Dejan Lovren has admitted that he wants Liverpool FC to avoid Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals.

The Croatian defender helped the Reds to book their place in the semi-finals of Europe’s elite club competition with an impressive 2-1 victory over Manchester City on Tuesday night.

Goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino helped the Reds come from a goal down and seal a 2-1 win over Manchester City to book their place in the last four for the first time in a decade.

Liverpool FC will now be eagerly anticipating Friday’s Champions League semi-final draw, with AS Roma having knocked out one of the favourites in FC Barcelona on Tuesday night.

And Liverpool FC defender Lovren has admitted that he would like the Reds to avoid Real Madrid in the draw this week.

Lovren is quoted as saying by Metro after Tuesday night’s win: “The draw, you know, when you look at the teams you need to respect everyone.

“Especially Real Madrid we need to respect most because they won the Champions League in a row.

“When you look, I would choose Bayern or Roma, definitely. And maybe for the final Real Madrid!”

The Reds will return to Premier League action Saturday night when they host Bournemouth at Anfield.

Liverpool FC are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they look to try and secure their place in the Champions League via a top-four finish this season.

The Reds drew 0-0 with Everton at Goodison Park last weekend.
