The Netherlands defender completed his £75m move to Anfield at the turn of the year after having been heavily linked with the Merseyside outfit last summer.
Van Dijk has been a regular fixture in the first team under Jurgen Klopp and he produced another solid performance to help Liverpool FC book their place in the semi-finals of the Champions League at the expense of Manchester City on Tuesday night.
And former Manchester United defender Ferdinand has insisted that he has been hugely impressed by what he has seen from the centre-half in a Liverpool FC shirt of late.
Speaking to BT Sport, Ferdinand said: “In the last few weeks he’s been outstanding and fantastic. Everything you’d want in a player who cost that much money as a centre-half.”
Liverpool FC are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they prepare for their home clash against Bournemouth on Saturday evening.
The Reds will discover their opponents in the Champions League semi-finals on Friday when the draw is made, and they will take on either Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or AS Roma.
The Merseyside outfit are aiming to at least match their fourth placed finish in the Premier League from last season this time around.
