Roberto Firmino has a warning about Liverpool FC for Man United
Roberto Firmino explains why he is hoping Liverpool FC can catch Man United in the race for second place this season
Roberto Firmino is still hoping that Liverpool FC can catch Manchester United in the race for second place in the Premier League table this season.
Liverpool FC suffered a blow to their hopes of securing second spot when they were held to a frustrating goalless draw with Stoke City at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime.
That result means that most are now expecting Manchester United to finish above Liverpool FC in the table, with 78 points now the maximum return Jurgen Klopp’s men can manage this season.
However, Firmino is still harbouring hopes of finishing second in the Premier League and reaching the Champions League final this season.
Firmino is quoted as saying by the Daily Star: “I want to get to the Champions League Final and we are going to fight for this.
“We’ve gradually become a team that people respect for that and I hope things can carry on.
“And in the Premier League we want to end strongly and hopefully finish as runners-up.”
Liverpool FC will return to Champions League action on Wednesday night when they travel to Rome for the return leg of their semi-final clash against AS Roma.
The Reds won the first leg 5-2 at Anfield to take a significant advantage into the return leg this week.
Liverpool FC, who finished in the top four last season and are on course to do so again, are yet to win their first trophy since Klopp’s appointment at Anfield as Brendan Rodgers’ successor back in October 2015.
