The Netherlands defender signed for the Reds from Southampton in the January transfer window after relentless speculation linking him with a move to Anfield in the summer window last year.
Van Dijk has gone straight into the first team at the Merseyside outfit and has been a regular fixture in the starting line-up for Jurgen Klopp’s men
The defender helped Liverpool FC to book their place in the semi-finals of the Champions League on Tuesday night as they claimed a 2-1 victory over Manchester City to wrap up a 5-1 aggregate win.
And former Liverpool FC star Lawrenson has been very impressed by what he has seen from Van Dijk in a Liverpool FC shirt so far this season.
Speaking to Irish radio station Newstalk, Lawrenson said: “Van Dijk is a really good player. He exudes confidence. He will have the odd off day. He did OK [against City].”
Van Dijk will be expecting to feature for Liverpool FC when the Reds return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon with a home clash against Bournemouth.
The Reds are currently in third place as they look to try and finish in the top four this season and secure a spot in next term’s Champions League.
