Manchester City warmed up for the game by claiming a 3-1 win over Everton in the Premier League on Saturday to leave them just one win away from clinching the top flight title.
Liverpool FC, meanwhile, came from a goal down to secure a 2-1 victory at Crystal Palace to keep their hopes of finishing in the top four alive.
Both sides will now turn their attentions towards their crunch first-leg showdown at Anfield on Wednesday night as they compete for a place in the semi-finals of Europe’s elite club competition.
And Guardiola has warned his players not to underestimate the threat posed by the Reds in front of their home fans this week.
Speaking at his post-match news conference on Saturday night, Guardiola said: “The way Liverpool play is so complicated for us.
“We know that. They are so quick, they are so good and it is tough.
“But it is the quarter-finals of the Champions League so we cannot expect, at that level, that something is going to be easy.”
Liverpool FC are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they seek a top-four finish for the second season running under Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds are hoping to reach the Champions League semi-finals as they bid to try and triumph in Europe’s elite club competition for the first time since 2005.
