The Egypt international has been one of European football’s top performing players this season following his move to Anfield from AS Roma last summer.
Salah has scored more than 40 goals for the Reds and was voted as the PFA player of the year thanks to his incredible form for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Mourinho knows Salah well, as he was the manager to have brought him to Chelsea FC from FC Basel back in January 2014 despite Liverpool FC having been linked with him.
Salah never really got his chance to impress at Chelsea FC and he was eventually sold to AS Roma before his move to Liverpool FC last summer.
And Mourinho has insisted that he is happy to see Salah doing so well at Liverpool FC this season.
Mourinho told a news conference at Carrington on Friday: “Credit to him, Jurgen, the team and I am very, very, very happy for him, that’s why we keep a good relation.
“He’s a fantastic boy and he knows I have a great care for him and I’m really happy for the things that are happening for him.
“He more than deserved the player of the year [award].”
Manchester United will host Arsenal at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday.
