Rio Ferdinand makes honest admission about ‘fantastic’ Liverpool FC
Rio Ferdinand admits that Jurgen Klopp is building a "fantastic" team at Liverpool FC after their fine form this season
Rio Ferdinand has admitted that Jurgen Klopp is building a “fantastic” team at Liverpool FC following the Reds’ sparkling form this season.
The Merseyside outfit have been earning plenty of praise for their strong performances in recent weeks, with their free-flowing attacking displays drawing many plaudits.
Liverpool FC are currently in third place in the Premier League table and through to the semi-finals of the Champions League.
The Reds claimed a 5-2 win over AS Roma in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash at Anfield on Tuesday night to take a big step towards qualifying for the final next month.
And former Manchester United defender Ferdinand has admitted that he has been thoroughly impressed by the way in which Klopp has set his team up this season.
Asked if he would have liked to play under Klopp, Ferdinand told BT Sport: “Not at Liverpool obviously!
“But him as a person and the way he puts his team out there… He doesn’t buy players that he thinks look good in other teams.
“He buys players that are specific to what he needs. He’s building a fantastic team here.”
Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action on Saturday when they host Stoke City at Anfield.
They will then firmly switch their attentions back towards Champions League affairs and their crunch clash against AS Roma in the return leg of their semi-final tie in Italy on Wednesday night.
The Merseyside outfit are yet to win their first trophy under Klopp.
