Ian Wright names signing Liverpool FC need to prioritise this summer
The Arsenal legend believes Jurgen Klopp needs to prioritise signing a goalkeeper for Liverpool FC this summer
Ian Wright believes Liverpool FC need to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer.
The Reds have made significant progress under Jurgen Klopp in the German head coach’s second full season in charge.
Liverpool FC are in third place in the Premier League table and can still finish as runners up to Manchester City this term.
The Merseyside outfit were 5-1 winners against Premier League leaders Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals.
The 18-time English champions will take on Serie A giants AS Roma in the semi-final later this month.
Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp has restored Loris Karius to his starting XI in recent months and the German shot stopper has grown in confidence.
However, former Arsenal striker Wright believes the Reds need to invest in a new shot stopper at the end of the campaign.
“I’d probably change him. Liverpool need to get the next one up,” Wright told Sky Sports.
“Karius looks like he would make a good number two. I’d move Simon Mignolet on.”
Liverpool FC signed Karius in a £4.7m deal from Bundesliga outfit Mainz 05 in the 2016 summer transfer window.
Simon Mignolet has found himself playing second fiddle to Karius over the past few months.
The Reds have kept eight clean sheets in their last 13 games in all competitons.
