Pundit claims 26-year-old has transformed Liverpool FC
The Liverpool FC legend believes the Reds have been a different team since Virgil van Dijk's arrival
Virgil van Dijk has transformed Liverpool FC since his arrival at Anfield in January, Steve McMahon has claimed.
The Reds signed the Netherlands international in a £75m deal from Premier League rivals Southampton in the January transfer window.
Liverpool FC made Van Dijk the most expensive defender in the world after the Merseyside outift’s protracted pursuit of the centre-half.
The Dutch centre-half has helped the Reds to be more solid at the back since his club record move to the 18-time English champions.
Van Dijk produced solid performances in Liverpool FC’s 5-1 win against Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-final.
The Reds have kept eight clean sheets in their last 14 games in all competitions to highlight their improvement.
Former Liverpool FC star McMahon believes the Reds are a much improved team with Van Dijk in their starting XI.
“He has been sensational. His form for Liverpool is world class,” McMahon told Sky Sports.
“Liverpool have been transformed into Champions League finalists thanks to his performances.”
Liverpool FC have beaten FC Porto and Manchester City in the Champions League knockout stage so far.
Mohamed Salah was named the PFA player of the year following a staggering return of 31 goals in 33 games in the Premier League.
