Guillem Balague has warned Liverpool FC not to underestimate AS Roma when they take on the Italian side in the Champions League semi-finals.

The Reds have been pitted against the Serie A team after they secured their place in the last four of Europe’s elite club competition with an impressive 5-1 aggregate win over Manchester City.

AS Roma produced one of the upsets of the quarter-finals when they managed to knock out FC Barcelona in the last eight to set up a clash against Liverpool FC.

Real Madrid will take on Bayern Munich for the other place in the final of the Champions League.

Spanish football expert Balague believes that Bayern Munich are the current favourites to win the Champions League this season and warned Liverpool FC not to underestimate the threat posed by AS Roma in the last four.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Balague said: “I think Bayern are the favourites to win the competition, followed by Liverpool in my eyes.

“Out of the three teams left in the competition, I thought the one that might be the hardest to beat is Roma.

“It’s not that they won’t be able to, but they are going to defend really well, counter-attack really well, and at home as they showed against Chelsea, Atletico and Barcelona can beat anyone.

“Real and Bayern would have been more open, which could have been of benefit to the front three.”

Liverpool FC are through to the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time in 10 years.

They will play the first leg against AS Roma at Anfield on Tuesday 24 April, before the return leg in Italy on Wednesday 2 May.

The Reds are looking to finish in the top four for the second season running under Jurgen Klopp.
