Chris Sutton has admitted that it is impossible to predict who will emerge victorious when Liverpool FC take on Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-final at Anfield on Wednesday night.

The Reds will welcome the runaway Premier League leaders to Merseyside in search of successive victories over Pep Guardiola’s side at Anfield following their memorable 4-3 triumph back in February.

Liverpool FC became the first Premier League team to beat Manchester City courtesy of goals from Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mohamed Salah in front of The Kop.

However, the Citizens haven’t faltered since that Anfield setback and Manchester City will win their first Premier League title under Pep Guardiola with a win against Manchester United in the derby on Saturday.

The Eastlands outfit were 5-0 winners against Liverpool FC in their Premier League meeting at The Etihad back in September, although Mane’s first-half sending off with the score at 1-0 contributed to the result.

Former Chelsea FC striker Sutton admitted that he is finding it difficult to predict a winner with both Liverpool FC and Manchester City capable of devastating performances.

“It is such a hard one to call. This could be anything,” Sutton told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“Man City could blow Liverpool away and beat them by six over two legs. Klopp has got his Liverpool team playing in such a way they could do the same thing to Man City.”

Liverpool FC have won the European Cup on five occasions. Their most recent triumph came in a penalty shootout win over AC Milan in 2005.
