The Reds managed to book their place in the last four of Europe’s elite club competition with another impressive performance against Pep Guardiola’s men.
Liverpool FC headed into the game on the back of their 3-0 win over City in the first leg of the quarter-final tie at Anfield last week.
But it was Manchester City who took the initiative in the second leg as Gabriel Jesus netted in just the second minute.
However, Liverpool FC held firm and equalised thanks to Mohamed Salah’s chipped finish in the 56th minute.
And Roberto Firmino made it 2-1 on the night when he coolly slotted home in the 77th minute to secure their progress into the last four.
Alexander-Arnold started the game and was in impressive form throughout before being replaced by Nathaniel Clyne in the 81st minute at The Etihad.
And England legend Lineker was clearly impressed by what he saw from the 19-year-old during the game.
Lineker wrote on Twitter: “So impressed with Trent Alexander-Arnold.
“A teenager playing with an assuredness and maturity way beyond his years.”
Liverpool FC will discover their semi-final opponents when the draw is made on Friday afternoon.
