The Reds were the first team to beat the Eastlands outfit in the Premier League this season following their thrilling 4-3 victory over Pep Guardiola’s side at Anfield back in February.
However, Liverpool FC produced an even better performance in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final last week following a resounding 3-0 win against the Citizens.
Goals from Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Roberto Firmino in the first half secured a commanding lead ahead of the return leg at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night.
Manchester City had the chance to restore some confidence by winning the Premier League title at the weekend when Manchester United made the short trip to their rivals.
However, the Premier League leaders squandered a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 to Manchester United following the Red Devils’ incredible second half comeback.
Guardiola’s defence have now conceded six times in their last two games and have lost two games in the Premier League this term.
Former Arsenal defender Keown believes Liverpool FC will go into the second leg full of confidence against a vulnerable Manchester City side.
“They went into their Champions League night at Anfield aware of what not to do,” Keown told the Daily Mail. “They refused to allow City time to play their creative game and won the battle.
“After that loss, Guardiola will have wanted to get back that feeling of invincibility immediately against United, but it has gone. Liverpool will be licking their lips in anticipation of Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final second leg.”
