Michael Owen is backing Manchester City to win the Premier League title thanks to a victory over Manchester United at The Etihad on Saturday evening.

The Citizens will be looking to bounce back from the disappointment of a 3-0 loss to Liverpool FC in the Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday night.

Goals from Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sadio Mane gave the home side a commanding first-leg lead ahead of the return fixture at The Etihad next week.

Pep Guardiola’s side have the chance to make amends this weekend when the Citizens welcome their bitter rivals Manchester United to their home stadium.

Manchester City can win the Premier League title if Guardiola’s men manage to beat Manchester United.

The Red Devils have a poor record on the road against the top-six rivals following a win at Arsenal and a stalemate at Liverpool FC but losing to Chelsea FC and Tottenham Hotspur.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Manchester City to beat Manchester United at The Etihad in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

“It is well documented that victory for City will see them crowned Premier League champions for a third time and they will be worthy champions, having graced the division with the quality of their football throughout the season,” Owen told BetVictor.

“City have won eight of their last 13 Premier League games against United and are unbeaten in their last 27 home league games.

“Yes, it is possible that Pep Guardiola will make changes with one eye on the second leg of their Champions League tie on Tuesday, but they have a deep squad and United have only won one of their last 10 away games against fellow “big six” clubs.

“I think City will be crowned champions at the Etihad.”

Manchester City are looking to win their first Premier League title since 2014 under Manuel Pellegrino.

The Citizens are hoping to get their hands on the Champions League title for the first time.
