Alan Shearer praised Manchester United for their second-half performance as they came from a goal down to beat Tottenham 2-1 and book their place in the FA Cup final.

Dele Alli had given Spurs the lead in the first half at Wembley when he turned home Christian Eriksen’s cross in the 11th minute.

However, January signing Alexis Sanchez levelled for the Red Devils when he headed home Paul Pogba’s cross in the 24rd minute.

Manchester United then secured their place in the final at Wembley next month when Ander Herrera fired home the eventual winner in the 62nd minute.

Former England striker Shearer was impressed with how Manchester United managed the game against Spurs and credited Jose Mourinho with masterminding the victory.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Shearer said: “I thought United were brilliant in the second half.

“I thought they managed the game superbly well, led from the touchline. The manager knew what he had to do – he had to stop Harry Kane – and he never had a kick in that second half.

“They deserved it and it’s another final for Manchester United.”

Manchester United will return to Premier League action on Sunday next week when they take on Arsenal at Old Trafford.

Mourinho’s men are currently second in the table as they bid to finish as runners-up to Manchester City in the Premier League.

The Red Devils will take on either Chelsea FC or Southampton in the FA Cup final next month, with the two sides playing the second semi-final at Wembley on Sunday.
